यथा दण्डेन गोपालो, गावो पाजेति गोचरं।
एवं जरा च मच्चु च, आयुं पाजेन्ति पाणिनं॥
जैसे ग्वाला लाठी से गायों को चरगाह मे हाँक कर ले जाता है वैसे ही बुढापा और मृत्यु प्राणियों की आयु को हांक कर ले जाते हैं ।

Just as a cowherd drives the cattle to
pasture with a staff, so do old age and death
drive the life force of beings (from existence
to existence).
